    Below I am going to discuss several of the popular and effective CPAP alternatives. The CPAP has grown into one of the most used treatment options for sleep apnea, but they can be uncomfortable for many people. For some people the CPAP doesn't work and carries some irritating side effects. The alternatives that are out there have been shown to be comfortable, inexpensive and effective for people's sleep apnea needs.

    Sleep apnea mouthpieces are one of the alternative treatments that can be used. They specially designed to help comfortably treat snoring and sleep apnea. They have become a popular option for many people and are relatively inexpensive.

    Option number two is losing weight. Over 50% of people with sleep apnea are obese. Weight loss has been shown to be one of the most effective sleep apnea treatments.

    Another option is practicing special mouth exercises specifically for sleep apnea. There are certain exercises if done correctly and consistently actually have been proven to help with sleep apnea.

    The fourth alternative is anti snore shirts or bumper belts. These shirts are designed to keep you sleeping on your side all night. This helps with the obstruction of the airway that causes sleep apnea and snoring. It simply keeps the tissues and tongue from falling into the throat by keeping you on your side.

    Snore and sleep apnea pillows are also a popular alternative and they too help keep you from sleeping on your back. These pillows can be uncomfortable for people that have a hard time adjusting to sleep positions.

    Surgery for sleep apnea and snoring is another option people take. The procedure is called UPPP. It removes tissues of the mouth and throat. This helps open up the airway and keep the tissues from blocking the airway. This is probably one of the more expensive and risky options. It works for a lot of people, but has been shown to not work for some. There are some bad side effects that can come with it as well.

    The seventh CPAP alternative is playing the Didgeridoo. What is the Didgeridoo? It is an ancient Australian instrument that has gained popularity as being an effect treatment for sleep apnea. There are simple ways to play it that are known to help treat sleep apnea for many people.

    I shared with you some of the popular CPAP alternatives that are out there. Each one may work differently for people. The main key is to find one that is comfortable and best fits your needs.
